A culmination of projects that have given me a perception of self but left with life’s never ending yearning for why. In a time where freedom of self expression is more important than ever, my projects leave me with more questions than answers but with an ability to move on.
The feeling of self and being able to show that on the outside feels amazing. By using strong figures to play out how I should feel, stance and posture, their presence in the scenes helps me to show myself without even being in the frame. Being myself on the outside should be easy but through life’s survival mechanisms we just learn to act and show what keeps us alive even if it means pushing yourself into the deepest part of yourself until it screams to come out. Without unlearning these mechanisms and letting yourself out, your body will suffer and then that will show rather than yourself.
A three year project in the making with little to display but a lot gained. This isn’t just about our generations inability for self intimacy and a very human need to share all that we experience and to have ourselves witnessed. This project is about exeptance of uneaque moments experienced in life and what you don’t see or lost to time and memory, acceptance in this beauty that is impermanence.
I believe this project will give you the strongest example and feeling of how I do day to day in these liminal spaces that seem constant no matter my surrounding. The spaces we inhabit together are experienced very differently to each other and I believe it’s important to know this fact. To show someone or for them to see the space you inhabit is rather beautiful yet I don’t know if this can be done or that if we can be truly seen at all, the way we see ourselves.
I wish to take you to the spaces I wish I could reach, like those distant views across the sea where rip tides disperse and you know you cannot reach as you are bare, yet your mind can be taken all the way there by one ray of sun, spec or glimmer that takes you there. You can once again breath and feel again, like your literal balance is being shaken yet restored and gravity becomes real again.
There has always been reason to visit the nostalgia of a better time of old. In a time when no one is present in themselves I wish to bring you a visual idea of a better time now! Imagine bringing nostalgia to the present In your every step.
Not exactly nude, not exactly crude but my take on questioning society and the human condition as it is, bare!
This isn’t a project I can describe without extreme scrutiny but visual piece installations and shows, that you can take how you will. A project very dear and desperate to me and the dread I have for society.
Art isn’t just a climax started in thought, we have many thoughts we’ve turned into more, I wanted to cross therapy and art in a safe space where I believe I can overcome old feelings and thoughts. We all have so much more control and capability over our minds yet mostly limited to the brains capacity to only use certain parts and functions to conserve energy at this part of our evolution, yet human potential is limitless if unlocked. I could only take this so far at this point. Overlapping the old with new even on a subconscious level using shades and patterns to show how we can have a different feeling over the old and take control of how we feel. I care far less of its visual outcome than the ability to stand tall over my past experiences and view them in a different light where I’m able to step back, see and move forward.
